To date the nosologic entity of non-A, no-B hepatitis is perfectly established. Probably there are at least three types of virus which can provoke it, different epidemiology. In our enviornment, the post-transfusional hepatitis is the most important one of which, sporadic cases can be seen. The disease is hardly symptomatic however, its evolution is always uncertain. A great percentage of cases evolve to chronic forms. Spontaneous remission can also be seen after various months of enzymatic alterations. As yet, no reliable serologic markers of these hepatitis have been found. Most surely, some of the virus which do produce them are retrovirus. In the serum of some patients with acute non A, non-B hepatitis inverse transcriptase activity has been detected.
